Nguvu Cement Price in Kenya: Class, Uses and What Shops Charge

Nguvu is the Bamburi line most Nairobi shops stock, and its price changes from shop to shop.

Nguvu is a Bamburi cement used for general construction: mortar, blocks, plaster and ordinary concrete. Price lists published in 2026 put a 50 kg bag in Nairobi between KSh 750 and KSh 855.

What the 2026 lists show

Source and date Nguvu price per 50 kg bag
Aspax list, dated 1 January 2026 by Construction Kenya KSh 855
CarbonCube, 2 October 2026 KSh 750 to 855

CarbonCube calls Nguvu "the most common retail Bamburi line in Nairobi" and lists it as CEM II 32.5N. A Bamburi guide on Beyond Forest lists Nguvu as a 32.5 cement for general construction without the N or R letter. Read the class printed on your bag before you pay.

For comparison, EcoConcrete reported Nguvu at KSh 630 to 770 in a March 2022 spot check of Nairobi vendors. The top of that 2022 range was KSh 770, so the top Nguvu price rose by about KSh 85 (855 - 770) between March 2022 and January 2026.

Nguvu against its neighbours

Prices from the January 2026 list, per 50 kg bag:

Cement Price Difference from Nguvu
Simba 32.5R KSh 735 KSh 120 less
Bamburi Fundi KSh 780 KSh 75 less
Bamburi Tembo KSh 800 KSh 55 less
Bamburi Nguvu KSh 855

Nguvu was the dearest 32.5 cement on that list. On a 100-bag order the gap to Tembo is 100 x 55 = KSh 5,500, and the gap to Simba 32.5R is 100 x 120 = KSh 12,000. Whether that is worth paying depends on what you build and what your engineer specified.

When Nguvu makes sense

  • Blockwork, plaster and screeds, where a 32.5 class is the normal choice.
  • General concrete, such as a house slab, when the drawings call for 32.5.
  • Jobs where the shop near you stocks Nguvu and delivery from elsewhere would cost more than the price gap.

Do not use it for work where the drawings say 42.5. CarbonCube is direct on this: never substitute 32.5 where structural drawings specify 42.5. The market guide and the Bamburi price page cover the range, and the Bamburi brand page lists every Bamburi grade we supply.

Quick answers

Nairobi lists published in 2026 show KSh 750 to 855 for a 50 kg bag. The January 2026 Aspax list had KSh 855 and CarbonCube's October 2026 range was KSh 750 to 855.
Is Nguvu 32.5N or 32.5R?
CarbonCube lists Nguvu as CEM II 32.5N. Another guide shows only 32.5. Check the bag, since the class is printed on it.

It can be, if your engineer specifies a 32.5 class for the slab. If the drawings say 42.5, use a 42.5 cement.
