Cement Price Per Tonne in Kenya: Convert Any Bag Price and Compare Quotes
Suppliers quote cement by the bag, by the tonne or by the tanker load. One conversion lets you compare all three.

A standard bag of cement in Kenya weighs 50 kg, so a tonne of 1,000 kg is 20 bags. To get a price per tonne, multiply the bag price by 20. To get a price per kg, divide the bag price by 50.

These are Nairobi prices per 50 kg bag from the Aspax building materials list, which Construction Kenya dates to 1 January 2026. The per-tonne and per-kg columns are our arithmetic.

Retail prices moved during the year. On 2 October 2026, CarbonCube listed Simba 32.5R at KSh 730 to 830 in Nairobi shops and Simba Power at KSh 950 to 1,200. Use the same multiplication on whatever bag price you are quoted today.
Worked example: 100 bags
A site needs 100 bags of Tembo, which is 5 tonnes.
- At KSh 800 a bag, the bill is 100 x 800 = KSh 80,000, or KSh 16,000 a tonne.
- CarbonCube reports that orders of 100 bags or more typically earn a discount of 5 to 10 percent. Taking 5 percent off gives KSh 76,000. Taking 10 percent off gives KSh 72,000.
- The gap between no discount and 10 percent is KSh 8,000 on this one order, which is why you should ask for it.

What to check before comparing
- Same product. A per-tonne price for 32.5 cement cannot be compared with a per-tonne price for 42.5.
- Same terms. Ask whether the price includes VAT and delivery to your site.
- Same date. Cement prices move through the year, so a list from March is only a guide in November.
